Online Gambling To South Africa

Online gambling looks as if it will be legalized in South Africa in the coming few months through the Remote Gambling Bill, spearheaded by Geordin Hill-Lewis as it heads to Parliament. Currently, residents of South Africa are only allowed to gamble in licensed, brick and mortar locations, or using sportsbooks online. A very small amount of online gambling outlets exists in the country as many patrons are wary of sites being shut down, with their money still living in their accounts on the site.Alex Igelman

The South African gambling industry is currently performing well, paying the government R2 billion worth of taxes from R16.5 billion in revenue. A cap for licensed gambling outlets exist in the nation, that figure being 40. Currently there are already 37 licensed establishments leaving merely 3 more licenses for growth. Winds of Change for the Macau Gambling Scene

Macau is the most densely populated city in the world, lying west of Hong Kong across the Pearl River Delta. Since the Portuguese returned Macau to Chinese rule in 1999, the city has become increasingly reliant on gambling to generate revenue, and has made a reputation for itself as the Las Vegas of the Orient.

However, revenue from gambling in Macau has dropped roughly 20% in the past year, and in a city where the gambling sector accounts for over 80% of the total economy, this is a very big problem. Pundits and officials alike are realizing that if Macau is going to maintain its flow of tourists, it will have to dramatically reshape its image.

The growing consensus is that after California authorizes internet gambling in 2015, east coast states like Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts might follow. Nevada, New Jersey, and Delaware all witnessed rapid industry growth after they legalized web poker, so it is only a matter of time until other states follow suit.

What’s the Legality of Fantasy Sports?

Since its conception in the 1980s it seems like the masses have partaken in some form of what is modernly known as fantasy sports. Though its popularity cannot be questioned, its legality frequently is a target of dispute with most experts stating that it is not illegal. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) passed in October of 2006, apart of the larger Safe Harbor Port Security Bill, stated that fantasy sports maintain legality as long as they meet a certain set of conditions.
